How to prevent system freezes
If you are a regular Windows OS user, chances are, you have encountered at least one system freeze when working with your PC. As system freezes are more frequently experienced in old PC versions, it may occur in random and are often experience by those that use computers with lower capacities. However, there are several reasons why a computer user may encounter such occurrence and knowin them will help you realize and identify what measures to take in preventing system freezes in your computer.
Basically, a computer will work within certain parameters by which it was designed for and if the user is able to control and manage the use within such parameters, there would be no reason for a system to freeze. However, with the influx of several updates, new programs and hardware that is also designed to enhance the computer experience, it becomes more difficult to discern and monitor if you are extending your computer beyond its capacity. Thus, the main cause of system freezes is the use of the PC beyond its system requirements. This often happens when the user tries to install or use software or hardware that is not compatible with the PC requirements. In some cases when a higher program is installed in a computer with a smaller capacity, system freezes will expectedly happen and more frequently that a user’s only fix is to reformat and reinstall OS. This mishap can be prevented by carefully reading the systems notation before downloading or installing any product, program, software or hardware. This way the computer can work within its specifications.
Aside from installing incompatible items beyond the PC’s capacity, system freezes may also occur when the temporary folder becomes full and bloated. The temporary folder is where all temporary files accrued by Internet browsing and applications are stored. When a user fails to monitor and manage the files on the temporary folder, the folder may use up much memory and disk space. The Disk Cleanup procedure is a good tool in preventing system freezes as well. It cleans up all unnecessary files from temporary folders, recycle bins and other folders where unwanted files may be placed.
Also as your computer ages, bad sectors may begin to develop on the hard disk/s. And each time you open a program that involves an item that contains a bad sector; your system will hang up. In preventing system freezes such as this, it is good to regularly run the Disk Defragmenter and Check Disk tool on your computer. This will help identify and rectify these bad sectors.
Another major cause of system freezes has something to do with the registry of your system. Sometimes as files and programs are accumulated and changed by installation and removal, some unwanted files remain and clog the registry. Also the registry would record several activities of spyware and viruses as acquired through the use of the Internet, other people’s external drives and others. Registry cleaners have recently been introduced to help the user fix registry issues and protect the computer as well. Thus, a good and reliable registry cleaner tool would help you in resolving registry problems and in eventually preventing system freezes.
