Fix Computer Errors Instantly!

One of the most easily customizable and popular 3rd party toolbars, in web browsers today (Mozilla Firefox in particular) is the Yahoo toolbar. Not only does it let you accept Yahoo mail alerts and access Yahoo search easily; the Yahoo toolbar also gives you the ability to save online bookmarks as well as receive feeds from your favorite sites on your My Yahoo page.

Recently, however, the toolbar has made vulnerable to hacking which was successfully done so through the toolbar installed on the Mozilla Firefox browser. Apart from these issues, you may have your own issues with the toolbar especially when you experience frequent crashes on your Firefox browser with your Yahoo toolbar installed.

In these cases, it would be necessary to get rid of the Yahoo toolbar on Mozilla Firefox by following any of the following methods we will describe further as we move along.

The most straightforward method is to run the uninstall software or tool that came with the toolbar itself. Doing so requires you to do the following:

  • Press the button with the Pencil icon found on the Yahoo toolbar
  • Select Uninstall in the drop-down menu
  • Click on the Uninstall button
  • Restart Firefox to complete the process.

The second method is to get rid of the toolbar with the use of the Firefox Extension Manager, which is done with the following steps:

  • Access the Tools menu, then click on Add-Ons. The Extensions button at the top should be selected to go to the Extensions Manager
  • Select the Yahoo! Toolbar extension in the screen and click on Uninstall.
  • Click OK and close the Add-Ons window.
  • Restart Firefox to confirm the uninstallation.

If neither method works, then there might be a couple of problems with the Firefox user profile, the one used by Firefox to save your own customizations. To fix this, you will have to create a new Firefox user profile by doing the following:

  • Click the Start button on your Windows PC and select Run.
  • In the Open field, type firefox.exe -ProfileManager and press OK.
  • Highlight the corrupted profile and click “Delete Profile” to get rid of it.
  • Select Create Profile, and do the steps to create the new profile that suits your needs.

After creating your new profile, you can now uninstall Yahoo toolbar using either method described above.

After the uninstall process, we recommend that you take advantage of a registry cleaner utility to examine the system registry and get rid of any unused keys or vacant entries left by the Yahoo toolbar. These orphan entries may cause future issues with your computer’s overall performance so it would be best to keep a check on them. You also need to maintain your antivirus and anti-spyware software and keep it updated with the latest definitions for up-to-date protection and just to make sure that no malicious codes or files find their way into your PC and cause damage to your operating system.
